Techs on Tour: CBX by PJ.

Image
As the Paintball season comes to a close. I gather my Tech gear and set off for my last event of the year. In my sights , Sao Paolo , Brasil. Largest city in South America and the Southern Hemisphere by populous. And also the largest Portuguese speaking city in the world. After a brief conversation with Receita Federal (Brasilian Customs). I made my way to Atibaia Paintball Arena about an hour outside the city. Upon arrival I meet with Julio Cesar Lima (Atibaia PB) and Rodrigo Araujo (CBX Organizer) to get a  taste of the local nectar "Banana Cachaca" and a  tour of the field and the modifications in the last stages. Atibaia PB has a Scenario field , Tactical field , and a Airball field. My eyes shined "Lime Green" as I  gazed in amazement at a brand new "Planet Eclipse Ultimate Airball Field".. Hugging the field was the custom Field Wrap Banner with CBX and Planet Eclipse proudly stamped and beautifully matching.  I was truly in Paintball Heaven and

Techs On Tour: MXL Final Leg - Mexico by PJ

Bags packed and I'm off to the final event of the  MXL (Mexican Xball League). Arrived in Guadalajara , Mexico about 5pm and made my way to Mexican Customs to meet up with my friends the "FEDERALIS".  After a brief conversation and a thorough search of my baggage and person. I pondered on mixed feelings as I exited the airport.  Apparently I must have looked like a past lover, but the FEDERALI said I was chosen at random. Lucky me, hahaha... Guadalajara  is well known for their Tequila and Mariachi, both born in Jalisco, the state of which GDL is the capital. Its economic base is strong and well diversified , mainly based on commerce and services, although the manufacturing sector plays a key role.  Saturday morning was a cool 54 degrees as the teams began rolling in. Nearly 30 teams signed up for their chance at the podium and some for the series championship. TJ ALLSTARZ , TITANS , RECOIL , SCORPIONS , and  BLACKWATER  were just a few to name. Rusty Dusty sen

Mighty Ballin' Power Rangers

We love hearing from our teams. We support many teams across the globe who are all fighting their own battles, either on the more mainstream stages (such as NXL and Millennium Series) or in their local and regional leagues against often bitter rivals. Ranger Warsaw, from Poland, have been with us for a number of years and have consistently improved year on year and 2017 was a particularly good year for them, in both their local event series, the Polish National League, and in the Millennium Series. © David Markowski After a long and entertaining season, they managed to become Champions of the Polish National League, for the 8th time in a row taking it to 15 titles in total. AND, to top that off they made Sunday Club at every Millennium Series event in the SPL division, taking 10th place overall. They're very excited to see what 2018 brings for them and European paintball and maybe they'll take their success to the next level. Great job by a great team. Good lu

The Cold War Ends – In a Tie?

Image
By Jason “foolybear” Lineberger Photos by Nichola Hayden of English Rose Photography For over a decade, this beast we call Fulda Gap has grown.  The big game, based on a Cold War scenario, has become one of the marquee events in paintball and one of those games that’s consistently fun. And what’s not to love about hundreds of screaming paintballers, supported by tanks, charging a hilltop fort? Or crawling through the woods, popping smoke, and rushing a base before reinforcements arrive from the nearby dead zone? For me Fulda Gap is camp fires, paintball stories, and enough action on the field to fill a dozen pages. If you attended the game, you also know that this year’s event was the most tightly contested one yet – all the way to the last seconds of the game.  Friday...... The day before the game is always a blast. For Team Capital Offense, this is our season-ender, and it always draws the best attendance.  We welcomed our guests who came so far to spend the week

Beira Mar : The End.....

Image
... of a great season! It’s been a long season… After many tournaments throughout 2017, our final event draws upon us and Atlantic Beira-Mar prepares to end on the biggest high. Each year paintball in Portugal evolves, helping the sport rise and in turn growing our teams, and giving experience to the players and ourselves… Atlantic Games Beira-Mar. The last tournament of the series saw us undertake many battles for that day, with each one taken seriously meaning our teams game plans had to be on point. Our first game of the day against Insanity Paintball Team ended as a 2: 0 win, seeing 2 quick points on the board for what felt like a dominating Beira-Mar squad. The next game against Reloaded was slightly different, even having won 2-0, it was a hard fought challenge by both teams. Lisbon Heat was the third game of the preliminaries and was set to be the most difficult game yet… With experienced players and great technique the game was tied, but in t

NXL World Cup 2017: Post Event catch up with Edmonton Impact's Bart Yachimec

Image
We end the 2017 NXL Season with a post-World Cup interview with Edmonton Impact's Bart Yachimec. Again, these are touchy pieces to approach, because nobody wants to talk about a really bad event they just had. Luckily, that wasn't the case and Bart gave us some good insights in the team. Probably a few too many if we're honest but hey, we can only ask the questions. So sit back, slow things down a little, and enjoy. So, back-to-back NXL World Cup champions AND back-to-back NXL Pro Series winners. Pretty impressive stuff. As it settled in yet? It truly is an unbelievable feeling to win back-to-back World Cups and really puts our team as one of the all time best in the sport. I would say even the last few years of winning the champions series' has put us as one of the most consistent teams also. Which is something the players and fans should be really proud of. The goal now is to become 'three-peat' champs which really makes it interesting. Photo: Fav

Beira-Mar :5th Event EXPL- Spanish National League

Image
For the 5th time this season, we, Beira-Mar Gold and Silver, drove 500 km east to Madrid, to fight on the 5th and final stage of the Spanish EXPL. We arrived at the field bright and early on Saturday, so that a few of us could play the usual 3vs3 tournament before Sunday. This allowed us to familiarize a little bit more with the layout. We won the 3-man and finished 1st in the overall season rankings. On Sunday, we were pretty confident in ourselves. We were currently in first place in the seasons ranking with a comfortably distanced from the second placed team. But this didn’t mean that we would slow our game. We tried to keep the same intensity we have been playing with all year. We played 4 matches on the prelims: The first, and the third (Salvajes and Woodpeckers), we played strong, and controlled during most of the entire game. We pulled out a 5-1 victory on both teams. The second and fourth games were disputed against Chiclana Paintball and Arca U.E Gan

NXL World Cup 2017: Pre Event catch up with Edmonton Impact's Bart Yachimec

Image
Welcome to the second of our pre / post event interviews with a designated Eclipse Pro team. This series of posts is a two-part deal. A pre-event interview followed by a Post Event interview. Which is risky. A team can have all the enthusiasm and plans in the world leading into an event but if they get an ass whupping then the post-event interviews can be a little awkward. But we think it's good to see both sides of the coin. As the NXL World Cup grows closer it's a no-brainer as to who we should feature. Last year's Cup winners and the team everyone wants to beat, Edmonton Impact. We contacted Impact's owner and coach, Bart Yachimec (and his lovely wife Jo), and hit him with a fistful (or three) of questions, to find out a little more about where their heads are it as the game timer ticks down. We like the Impact boys so thought we'd try to get some insight into the stuff we don't see which we managed to do, so thanks for this Bart. Anyway, here we go.
